Negrense Nonoy stays with UST Growling Tigers

With the recent conflict between University of Santo Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers and its key players, Negros star and UAAP Best Rookie Mark Nonoy decided to stay for his team.

The UST guard along with teammate Vince Deo Cuajao announced that they will remain with the Growling Tigers while Rhenz Abando is reportedly considering moving out of the squad.

The handler of both Nonoy and Cuajao, Jax Chua of Phenom Sports Management, said they are waiting for the decision of UST’s internal investigation on the “Sorsogon Bubble” but wanted his two players to stay with the Growling Tigers.

"They have no plans to leave UST. They were schools who were inquiring about them, but I want them to stay with UST," he added.

Beninese center and reigning UAAP MVP Soulemane Chabi Yo as well as gunner Sherwin Concepcion have also expressed their desire to stay for the Growling Tigers.

Nonoy, the Carlota native pulled off a stunner after he was named Rookie of the Year in the men's basketball of the UAAP Season 82.

It's been 10 years since University of Santo Tomas was the home to the season's Rookie of the Year, back when Jeric Teng got the hardware in 2009.

But last year, Nonoy fulfilled the promise after getting the coveted award. The former player of Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) said it was a great moment for his young career. The 19-year-old kid of coach Aldin Ayo catches the attention of the crowd with his quickness and agressiveness in the court.IMT
